Motorcycles are definitely one of the most popular mode of transport today, they can be found almost anywhere in the world probably except the South Pole. Since their invention in the 19th century, motorcycles are used in day to day commute to work, as a leisure ride out on Sundays, delivery vehicles for your pizzas as wells as used by the traffic police to flag you down for summons when speeding. Motorcycles are very popular, relatively easy to learn, and they are much more fuel efficient than other types of vehicles. While today modern cars are still struggling to reach the 30 miles per gallon mark, motorcycles can go from 40-70 miles per gallon.

Almost all types of motorcycles comes in two wheels, however they are also three-wheel varieties call trikes as well as a four wheel version known as the ATV. Two wheeled motorcycle comes in all sizes and usage, from a 50cc learner scooter bike up to the 1300cc Suzuki Hayabusa Super bike. Different types of bikes are also used under different environment, scooters and road track bikes are generally ridden on the road, whereas motocross bikes are used in off road muddy terrain.


 

Motorcycles have generate an enduring image of freedom, fun, risk taking, style as well as having an attitude that have spawned off many different subcultures among bikers, one of the most famous club are the Harley Davidson's club. Motorcycle subcultures are often characterized by the types of motorcycle that they ride or sometimes even restricted to a particular brand. Many major motorcycles manufacturer around they world have also formed their motorcycle clubs based upon their brand names, offering ride out activities and a platform to which their customers can interact.

Unlike cars, motorcycle did not offer a "protective shell" to its riders, and as motorcycles can travel to speeds in excess of 200km/hr for many models, often a rider would need a faster reflex riding a motorcycle than driving a car, it is very important to wear protective gear to minimize injury during mishaps or an accident. Protective gear ranges from a simple helmet up to a full padded suit including a full face helmet, protective boots and gloves.
